  Code Name: TRACKER

This figure was really intended to be the basic Z Force trooper, but in the Battle Action Force comic at some point the character model was switched with that of the Z Force Sapper, meaning this chap became the unit's sapper, code-named Tracker (not to be confused with the G.I. Joe character of the same name, who like seeming every post-1987 Joe was just an idiot in a sports shirt).

While he was technically a sapper, Tracker actually seemed to spend more time working as a sniper, and was rather a cool character, hence me choosing to follow the comic's naming style rather than that of the card back.

The mould was one of the few 1983/84 toys to use a new head cast (I think the rest of him is taken from the 1982 Ground Assault figure), and was slightly recoloured (red hip pouches) as Wheels, driver of the Z Force Jeep. It's a shame (if obviously understandable) that they didn't give him the 'present arms' pose as it would have worked nicely with a sniper rifle, but at least the straight arms Palitoy did go with come with a small semi machine-gun that at least doesn't look silly held at arms' length.

Tracker looks great, and even the troublesome backpack works on him - it still rides up a little, but at least the torso is largely smooth and the thing fits on evenly. He's probably my favourite of the 'straight arm' Z Force figures, and the overall neat look makes him a recommended purchase.
