All
open to correction, of course. I've purposefully omitted Machine
Robo Rescue and Mugenbine because I have no clue about either
of them. Some 'assortments' have made-up titles - I've indicated where
these are. If anyone knows what the assortment names are, or even if
there are any, please let
me know.
Where
it all started. Small vehicles, around the size of a Matchbox car. Originally
designed and manufactured by Popy before being taken over by Bandai.
55 figures were issued from 1982 to 1986, the majority of which were
exported to the Gobots and Robo Machine lines. Due to
the retail price of 600¥, the range soon became known as the '600
Series'. Packaging for the range was updated four times (the Popy 'silver'
boxes, the Bandai 'diagonal' boxes, the Bandai 'spectrum' boxes, and
the Bandai cards), and some figures were released in more than one style
- similar to Gobots in America, successful figures would remain
available for years.

Scale
Robo DX
Most
likely a response to Diaclone's Car Robot series, Scale Robo
began as an attempt to market the Space Cobra Psychoroid figure
within the Machine Robo line. The toy was joined by six figures
modelled on realistic vehicles the following year. Popy designed the
first three before being reabsorbed into Bandai. Scale Robo were much
larger than the '600 Series'.

The
BMR figures were larger versions of successful '600 Series' figures.
In the case of the first two, the toys were almost literally scaled
up. For the remaining three, just the vehicle modes were the same as
(or similar to) the '600 Series' inspiration.

Arts Robo
These
toys were based on highly poseable (for the time) non-transforming figures.
These then had transforming armour which could form a shell-like vehicle
for this figure, similar to the Vehicle Pretenders from the Transformers
line. These toys were produced around the point the Machine Robo
line was revamped to tie in with the Revenge of Cronos Anime,
hence the different serial numbers, and the use of the later-style boxes.

Machine Robo
Each
Double Machine Robo consisted of two vehicle modules that could combine
to form a single robot. The first batch featured totally independent
modules, each slightly larger than a '600 Series' figure. The second
batch, which came out alongside the Revenge of Cronos tie-in
line, featured figures where both the alternate and robot modes were
made up of two modules.

Rock
Robo
The
Rock Robo were robots that transformed into, well, rocks. They featured
in the Anime as the Rock People, split into good and evil factions (on
the toyline, MRGR presumably signifies 'Gylandar Rock'). The toys were
issued in the West as the Rock Lords in 1986.

Wheelmen
Transforming
vehicles with friction motors, these toys were among the last released
in the Revenge of Cronos line, with the last two coming in Battle
Hackers packaging.
Large,
motorised armour suits that didn't transform, but did come with a well-articulated
non-transforming pilot figure. The first suit was issued in Revenge
of Cronos-style packaging, the other two in Battle Hackers
packaging.

Robo Era (1993)
CG
Robo
A short-lived revival of the line, the CG Robo range extended to a dozen
figures, around 150% the size of '600 Series' figures. All of these
toys had working light and sound features, hence the name of the line
("Change & Glow Robo"). Only promoted by a CGI commercial,
the line was short-lived.
